What do we cover?
Our 6-week course contains practical training in the group classes along with online training videos and resources to be able to give you as much foundation learning as possible.
In classes we will work on:
- Being able to engage and respond to their owners around other dogs and distractions.
- Polite greetings and prevent jumping up.
- Starting a sit stay.
- Respond and love their name.
- Settle on a bed.
- Learning how to stay calm and relaxed around distractions.
- Recall from other dogs and distractions, coming back when called.
- Foundations for walking nicely on a lead without pulling.
- Leave it cue – Impulse Control and how to prevent your dog from stealing.
- Socialisation and how to do it right.
- Confidence – teaching our dogs not to be worried by novelty.
- Friendly dog greetings, understanding body language and knowing when to intervene.
Why our classes?
Puppies and dogs don’t inherently possess knowledge of how to behave in our human environment. It’s our responsibility to teach them how to navigate life in our homes and interact appropriately with others.
By employing well-crafted training games, alongside positive and clear communication, our dogs will become happy well behaved family pets and gain the ability to enjoy more freedom. They will be equipped to listen and make improved choices, even when faced with distracting environments. This approach will also enable them to master crucial skills such as coming when called, settling down, walking nicely on a lead, and polite greetings.
The Beginner Group Classes are a great way to achieve proper socialisation as they learn to focus on you while there are other dogs and people nearby. If you have an older puppy or rescue dog, get in touch and we can discuss if these classes are suitable.
What's included:

Sarah Tullett –
Excellent puppy training classes with Cathy.
Our puppy was bigger and older than the rest of the group and could already do some of the training exercises but Cathy recognised this and made the training relevant to us. She also understood the individual characteristics of the different breeds present and made suggestions to target their strengths. There is also very helpful video support of all the exercises with some extras, and a group support network.
Now waiting to move up to the next class. Would very definitely recommend Cathy and her training classes.
Amy Ah-Moye –
Cathy was brilliant! We’d highly recommend both her puppy group classes and one to one sessions for anyone with a puppy looking for these. We found them so helpful & Cathy is a fantastic trainer.
The puppy group classes are small (max. 6 puppies), really well structured & each puppy gets a good amount of attention and individualised, really useful feedback from Cathy. She’s really knowledgeable, super observant & gives great advice, which made such a big difference each time in helping our pup learn a skill in the class. The pups are spaced apart well enough to be able to learn with distractions, but not so much of a distraction that they can’t learn, which was so helpful for our puppy who learnt things well at home but completely lost all her training with any distractions outside! There was a good atmosphere in the classes and they were also completely non-judgemental, which I really appreciated, and Cathy was very encouraging throughout. She sent us her video tutorials of the things we did after each session, and you also get access to a whole bank of great video tutorials to do in your own time, which we’ve found so helpful. The venue itself was good also with an indoor option if it rained, and there was plenty of parking available, making it really convenient.
Honestly we can’t recommend Cathy highly enough! Our puppy has made great progress with all of her training, support and advice, so thank you Cathy!
